With Doug's Military background in maintenance and supervision he was a great asset when he joined Corporate Facilities Group, Inc. in January of 2001. Starting as the Facility Manager for the Kaiser Permanente Medical Facilities located in Atlanta, Georgia, Doug was responsible for the operations of the critical 7x24 data centers and 22 other Kaiser Permanente Medical Facilities consisting of 2 million sq. ft. During his tenure on the Kaiser Permanente account Doug setup the system commissioning programs, engineering operations, system startup, Facility Management and Preventive Maintenance programs. In the summer of 2005 Doug was transferred to the Property Management division to oversee 14 shopping centers located throughout the United States. During this year Doug was very instrumental in establishing and organizing of all the lease abstracts for over 120 sub-tenants, rent roll collections, CAM billings and CAM collections.
After spending four years in the U.S. Navy as an enlisted Aircraft Electrician, Doug remained on the same Military installation with Burnside-Ott (Military contractor) as a Maintenance Supervisor for two U.S. Navy helicopter training squadrons. Responsibilities included certifying aircraft safe for flight, coordinating maintenance, scheduling of flight and test board operations, ordering of major components and coordinating the recovery of any downed aircraft in outlined fields.
In 1987, Doug went to work with the Naval Air Rework Facility located in Pensacola, Florida. Doug was one of 60 selected from among 800 applicants to go through a four year Apprenticeship Program specifically orientated towards Management training. Doug graduated top in his class. In 1995, due to Governmental Budget cut backs, Pensacola Naval Air Rework Facility was shut down.
In 1995, Doug relocated to Atlanta, Georgia and began work with the Koll Company as a Building Engineer. Responsibilities included building maintenance, fire safety, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and work order maintenance on the Delta buildings located at the Hartsfield Airport. Soon Doug was transferred from Delta's Hartsfield Airport physical plant to the Delta Reliability Center (Data Operations Center).
In 1997, Doug was promoted from a Building Engineer to a Facilities Manager with CBC Koll on the Barnett Bank account located in the panhandle of Florida. Doug, relocated to Pensacola, managed 52 facilities consisting of 348,000 square feet across thirteen counties from Pensacola to Jacksonville. During his tenure, Doug went through several transitions, in which he saw CBC Koll lose the maintenance contract to Lincoln Property Company. Subsequently, Doug was hired by Lincoln Property Company continuing his role as a Facilities Manager. It was also during this time that Doug was instrumental in two other transitions; one being when Nations Bank bought out Barnett Bank and the other being when Bank of America bought out Nations Bank. Doug was also instrumental in implementing the CEWA (Critical Environment Work Authorization) program with Bank of America.
At this time Doug joined the Corporate Facilities Group, Inc. as the Facility Manager for the Kaiser Permanente Account. Doug, along with the Facilities team was instrumental in receiving the highest score ever given by the NEHS (National Environmental Health and Safety) auditors for Kaiser Permanente. They received 100% in three OSHA required categories; Confined Space entry, Lockout/Tagout procedures and Hazardous Waste.
